I saw their whole careers. Hakeem is great, outsanding player in NBA history, one of the GOAT. Shaq won 4 titles and destroyed everyone in his path at his peak. Hakeem had issues getting out of the west in many years. Shaq at his best is better than Hakeem at his best.

Competition was tougher for Olajuwon, no? O'Neal also had Bryant, and a top 2 GOAT coach in Jackson. I mean, when u add on Olajuwon's defensive prowess, to top off his more polished offensive arsenal, it's a wrap

Olajuwon had a fancy offense and great defense. Agreed. That doesn't make him better than shaq. And level of competition is relative because shaq made his competition look like garbage. There was a lot of overlap in their career of foes as well.

No he was not.

Shaq at his best had no other elite prime Centers to play against. Hakeem at his best still had to face prime Robinson, O'Neal, Ewing, and Mourning....let alone facing Moses Malone, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Robert Parish as well in the 80s.

thats great unless you keep in mind his peak came when he had to face arguably the GOAT PF reguarly, in Tim Duncan...who was better than anyone hakeem ever faced in the playoffs. Heck, in 99 he beat hakeem (who averaged 20, 9, and 2 blocks, spare me the washed up crap) with barkley and pippen, and lost to duncan and robinson

he also had kobe who is KNOWN for torching the spurs his whole life

so he faced a 36 year old olajuwon a 36 year old mutumbo, a 34 yr old rik smits that retired that same year and TODD MACCULLOCH during the title years :krs:

:comeon:

edit: to add to the post above yes shaq held his own all his pre title years but he suddenly became "most dominant player ever" once everyone became :flabbynsick:

I think people are taking their memories of '94 and '95 Hakeem and applying it to his whole career.

'94 Hakeem vs '00 Shaq is :whew: though.

Well, because he faced and defeated better Center competition; he's one of the GOAT defensive players who EVER played the game and was also a great offensive player as well; he wasnt a liability in the 4th quarters of tight games; he didnt need top 3 perimeter players in order to win a ring

Shaq is 6th All-Time in Points Scored
Hakeem is 9th All-Time in Points Scored

Hakeem is 12th All-Time in Total Rebounds
Shaq is 14th All-Time in Total Rebounds

Hakeem is 8th All-Time in Career Steals
Shaq isnt even in the top 250

Hakeem is #1 All-Time in Blocked Shots
Shaq is 7th All-Time

Hakeem also led his 48-34 Rockets over Shaq and his 60-22 Magic in the NBA Finals....how much more do you need?:comeon:
