6. Unless I’m remembering wrong, Lust not only LIVED instead of being turned into a pair of charbroiled titties on the ground, but turned good.

Gave it a 6. I don't like how they handled the story after trailing away from the manga.

They also started doing very limited action scenes. The only decent fight I can remember was Ed vs Greed and that fight was like 30 secs.

The OG Fullmetal Alchemist isn't seeing Brotherhood or the manga, but it's still dope. I'll give Fullmetal Alchemist a strong 8.

In this version of FMA homunculi are created through failed transmutation attempts. The only way to kill them is to dig up their remains and use it as a weapon similar to kryptonite. So you can imagine the decision that Izumi, Edward and Al are presented with. There is also a scene of man audibly snapping the neck of his child (King Bradley to his son), Ed screaming in shock after his very first kill, Ed being impaled to death by Envy, Ed contemplating ripping an arm from Izumi's child, among other things. This one of the darkest shounen of all time and it often makes FMAB look like a kids show.

I get that it's not as comprehensive and that most of characters don't receive as much development. A lot of them are even missing from action. but the difference in atmosphere and tone made the drama feel so much more convincing to me. there are a lot of scenes that gave me chills watching it for the first time and still do however many years later. I'm giving it a 10. Would also give FMAB a 10. Just for different reasons.

Also has one of the best openings

Lust does die in the original, and it's Envy who kills Hughes so the viewer doesn't have a reason to hate her as much as we do in FMAB. Turns into a sympathetic figure when it's revealed she just wants to be human.

FMAB usually has the better version of characters. Lust is one of the exceptions.

On a side note Mustang was such a great character. He was my favorite in both versions.
