I’d give it a 10 if the show ran a lil longer. May not be as violent or gory as the 80’s and 90’s anime of old, but Parasyte is a worthy descendant of the horror anime that came before it

Gave it an 8 at the time I watched it five years ago. On a rewatch I might take issue how overcooked the "what does it mean to be human vs a monster" commentary is, how flat the ending feels and a certain emotional scene involving Mugi being undermined a few episodes later. but I won't knock it lower than 8 until I actually see again it to confirm

8/10. Wish it ran longer but this was a very solid anime with a very interesting concept. I think this show doesn't get mentioned enough with the better recent anime. One thing keeping it from being a classic is the ending was not satisfying.
