Yeah, no city is touching NYC when it comes to night life but Baltimore does have a respectable night life, too. To really experience it through, you'll need wheels; I really wish uber existed in my early 20s. The subway closing at 12 kinda sucks. The city sleeps around 4 but that's ok because so am I.

Only cities in this country touching NYC nightlife are Vegas and Miami frfr.

Everyone's Place :blessed:

the immediate surroundings to Everyone's Place :patrice:

The Dichotomy of Baltimore. :blessed:

Baltimore is it's own separate, complementary source of Maryland Pride.

The owner of Everyone’s Place is my breh. He puttin in big work in this Black bookstore game I don’t wanna brag on em cuz he lowkey but dude is a major pillar out here. That pic of they whole crew standing guard outside during the riots was tough as fukk. That’s how you know they got some sense up there cuz they went down the street and burned the CVS down not the bookstore or the warehouse.

It’s funny cuz I was just there yesterday. Had to get books for Howard Homecoming. I can’t really rate Bmore because I hardly ever go there and when I do it’s on business to pick up books. I’ll say that as hood as it is (extremely hood:russ: ) the people are down to Earth and as long as you can handle yourself you don’t feel like your in imminent danger like I would feel in uptown New Orleans or something.

Beautiful murals and street art. Similar rowhouse design to DC so the neighborhoods can be quite beautiful even in their squalor. People there are so down to Earth that they do this hitchhike thing where they point on the ground and random passers by will pick them up and take them to their destination. I actually thought it was pretty cool when I first saw it but I’d never dare try it.

That accent is something else too. They can spot me quickly since I have a DC/PG accent and slang. nikka in the store seen me and saw I had gold on and just smack asked me “Yo, you could get me a jewice?” like I was bout to be a duck and quack. Another nikka by the gas pump introduces himself as not being a fiend then asks for money for some Fix a Flat. Feels like I’m still home tbh. Bmore is definitely our close cousins and the pride of Maryland since DC is only physically a part of the state not administratively. I’ll say as a PG nikka, I definitely turn bougie and stick my nose up to all them white junkies like :mjpls: :lolbron:

Overall, there’s a huge deal of potential right now in Baltimore. Still lots of cheap property that can be flipped if all of us Black folks got together on it. Unfortunately, the predators have already been making their rounds now that they’ve absorbed over half of DC. It would be beyond disgusting if they did the same to Baltimore too.

Edit: just had to add that Baltimore got some of the most pro Black people you’ll ever come across. I think that’s one of the few things that the DMV and Baltimore do work together on. Both communities definitely support each other when they can. If DC don’t got it, Bmore does and Vice versa.

Dope post. Yea that thing with picking up random people is called hacking. Gotta be careful with who you pick up tho cuz nikkas will car jack you. But you’re right about the safety thing. If you know how to handle yourself you’ll be fine. I never really feel unsafe becuz i know how to move. It’s kinda weird tbh. I remember Christmas of 02 we had a big blizzard. I was selling weed at the time and dropped something off to somebody. My car got stuck in the snow in a known crack area at the time. Goons all over the place. In some other cities I prolly woulda got lined up quick but about six thugged out nikkas came outta nowhere and helped me get my car out. Wished me a merry Christmas and helped me on my way and went back to selling crack. I legit thought I was about to get robbed. That just shows how cool the people are here

2 things i have to disagree with.

1. Our Skyline had changed immensely over the past 15 years. Harbor East and Harbor Point didnt even exist at that time, now those are two whole neighborhoods extending Downtown Baltimore. We've also built a new 2nd tallest building in Baltimore with 414 Light Street.

2. We definitely don't copy NYC at all. Memphis rap was big in Baltimore back in the early 00s, but that has faded as well. As far as dressing/style, we dont copy anybody.

3. As far as things to do, I've been to maybe 1 city (NYC) that wraps circles around Baltimore. There are neighborhoods that nikkaz Haven't even discovered yet with events/festivals/ nightlife happens.

You're the homie tho, so i gotta let you cook.

edit: I gotta stop you there, we not a less pretentious version of DC, we are NO version of DC at all. We are the one and only version of Baltimore.

Alright, go ahead and cook.
I will say that we did used to be on NY’s nuts at one point. Back in the crack era. We fukked with NY rap real heavy too. I remember my sister and her friends going wild if they saw some dude driving with NY tags. NY has a presence here since so many come down here for school and never leave. Plus a lot of them have family down here that never left during the Great Migration

I can definitely see that. Real shyt, the people are actually great I never had a problem in Baltimore. I love that they be having horse and carriages full of fruits and vegetables ridin through the hood.

For me that’s always been the heartbreaking thing about the city. The poverty and drugs are so in your face but the people still good people regardless of that. I wish somehow the industrial life of the city could be brought back. Maybe do wind mill and solar panel shyt and rebuild that strong middle class that got killed off when the factory jobs left.
