Rate This City: Day 173 - Manila Philippines

Went to Bagquio last month for a boy's wedding.


When i had to get an emergency trip from their to Manila (my flight was the next day and was able to scavenge for a cab that would drive me 6 hours from a to b).


The driver was a middle aged pinoy who acted as a father to me (the stories he told me really put my life in perspective).



He had on a radio station (i believe 107.3) that plays only soft rock love songs and i suddenly i could feel hear somebody chopping up onions in the automobile. He asked me what was wrong and i told him a woman that i recently fell in love with no longer had feelings for me.



The game he put me on.. i won't recite but it's insight and wisdom i can take with me until my holy grave.



The activities, food and scenery, etc. was okay (still prefer vietnam)... but one thing the Phillipines excels at are the warmth, compassion and heart of the people. Love them to death. That alone makes it a top 5 city/country for me.

yea they are exceptionally kind.

it was weird hearing SIR every day the first week. they also joke about everything and anything, even tragedy, its how they cope with hardship, poverty etc. they are quite charming and funny, but you must also beware, relationships of any kind can be fickle. fortunately you can make new ones effortlessly at the same time.

I was there in 2006, havent needed to go there since dating apps, black market club and burgois street (dozens of bars) are around.

I pulled a girl from air force 1, in other words I did my thing there, she was so nervous come to find out she was brand new, only working there a week, second customer. I gave her my number and she was my girl during the rest of my stay there, never paid her anything, on the contrary, she'd take taxis to meet me, cooked for me, and gave ME gifts she was bad (solid 9 and only 20), and she was so green. I got lucky, cause airforce 1 girls are all fire...but also they know how to hustle. their main targets are rich asian businessmen.

anyways I still have her on fb, its been well over 10 years so shes over 30 now, full grown woman. she opened up a business and lives in pasay . looks like shes ballin and bought a condo. we dont talk tho, she wants to erase the old life that got her out of poverty. her eyes dont look as innocent as they used too.

none of that American obsession with telling people to use condoms 24/7 and spoil all the fun

in the Philippines whether the women are sex workers or regular civilian women who are more wife quality, a lot of them just jump on the dikk raw

sex workers no, they def use. some SOME you can pay extra, but I wouldnt even try it anyways you're risking the house in virginia, cause you dont know how many dudes cross between the ladyboys and workers. that means these dudes are doing anal then going back to workers that might slip every now and then. thats crossing the line and into very dangerous waters.
