Today we look at another small HBCU. Clinton College of Rock Hill, SC was founded by Bishop Caleb Isom Clinton of the AME Zion Church in 1894, primarily to teach educators
so that illiteracy could be eliminated amongst Blacks in the area. For most of its history it has focused on education and religious studies though the former is recently de-emphasized in favor of business.
Only about 200 students on average, it is a small college, primarily focused on associate's degrees, but surprisingly has over half of its students from out of state. For those wanting a close-knit, religious focused liberal arts school, it may be an option since 80% of its students graduate in 6 years.
