Today we check out the largest 2-Year Community College amongst HBCUs, Southern University of Shreveport, often abbreviated SUSLA or sometimes SUSBO (for Southern University Shreveport-Bossier). It is a community college primarily focused on business, health care, and the liberal arts with a few trade courses like aerospace technology.

Established in 1967, it has been a longstanding institution in Shreveport but has not grown as much or been funded as well as LSU Shreveport which was established the same year and has grown to offer bachelor's degrees. That being said, it is probably one of the cheapest nursing degrees in the HBCU universe with a completion rate of 70%+ compared to the low graduation rate for other majors.

In the fall of 2022 the football program was abruptly ended and in April 2023 a new chancellor (and SUSLA alumna) was named. SUSLA is also known for its annual Golden Gala which is a significant event for the Shreveport Black community movers and shakers.

Above the fray.
Great info.
I especially like that you posted the completion rate for the top Major/Concentration. That department is attracting and developing good students and serving the mission of the school.
The others, not so much. And they're all drawing from the same pool of enrollees.

A girl I used to date now lives in Bossier, and went to this school. She never really bigged up the school, but it has helped provide her with a decent earning career. Other than that, I don’t know much about this school.
