Space is the Place
With all the talk at @get these nets thread on HBCU gender gaps relating to the "worth" or not of college for boys, I thought I might throw out some info I have been collecting. Generally, the highest paying HBCUs are the top four (Howard, Hampton, Morehouse, Spelman) and the engineering focused schools. However, one way to look at it is how much are people earning relative to the debt they accumulate. $90k per year from Howard with $100k of debt or $60k per year from NC A&T with minimal debt for in state residents? I showed the top paying HBCU majors in the Analytics thread here
Again remember what we saw:
If you got to a HBCU and do not major in
1) STEM
2) Nursing
3) Architecture
4) Business/Finance
You will not be expected to earn more than $50k UNLESS you go to Morehouse or Spelman.
So in this post I will show the HBCUs and majors with the top graduate earnings to median debt (federal loans + Parents PLUS). Also in the next post I will show the best buys for people with undecided liberal arts type majors. The presence (or absence) of certain schools may surprise you.
