White Cubans trying to see how they can get back in :mjpls:
Don't get too excited.

The current president of Cuba "Miguel Diaz Canel" is another Maduro and the white cubans from Miami hate his guts and they are boycotting him.

Luckily for them, this guy is an idiot and the communist government will probably lose alot of power, especially now that the escape valve is shut down after Barack Obama ended the wet foot dry foot policy and now the rebellious cuban people that would otherwise escape to the US are now stuck in that communist hell, added to that is that internet is available for cubans now and they can see how the outside world looks life and they are realizing that communism is failed system.

Which is why massive protests are starting to break out in Cuba, something that hasn't been seen since the 50s.

I watched a nice debate about Cuba’s future on Al Jazeera. I think they’re veering towards a more balanced model a la Scandinavia. Not sure if it even that will be enough to get America off their backs but I’d say it’s a perfect compromise for both sides.

But given just how fukked up America can be in its own backyard the paranoia might snap back quick if things go too fast. Given that America is still very much into interventions I think it’ll take time for both sides to reach a point where they can be mutual partners.

Lies, he never tried that shyt during Trujillo era.. In the Trujillo era DR could destroy Cuba in less than a day, the same way DR almost fukked up Venezuela, almost killing the venezuelan president Rómulo Betancourt.

Fidel did try to bomb Santo Domingo but that was in the 70s when Balaguer was in power, and by that time Cuba was 100% backed by the USSR with the latest military technology, inteligence and equipment so they were feeling big and bullying their neighbors with their shiny supersonic mig 21s donated by daddy Russia.

The reason Trujillo wasn't able to kill Fidel was because USA didn't want to give him permission to do so and when they did, the CIA sabotaged the whole operation on purpose, because the USA found that Fidel was more useful to them alive than dead. If the US wanted to kill Fidel, they would've done it easily.
The U.S. tried hundreds of times to kill Fidel, comically even, and they failed every single time.
Close but no cigar: how America failed to kill Fidel Castro

If they are going that route than im glad.

The problem is that you can't trust an autocratic regime.

You can't blame Communism on it's own when there's been a decades long embargo that limits your ability to trade.

Yeah, keep believing that nonsense.

The most powerful nation in human history after Rome couldn't kill the president of a third world island in the caribbean?? Use your common sense!!

The CIA wanted him alive.
My "common sense" tells me that the U.S. used every measure at its disposal save for an open military invasion and occupation of the country to destabilize things, including continuous destruction of the nation's economy - and failed to dislodge the nation.

I don't know what would make you think that the "CIA" wanted him alive? Are you saying all of the assassination attempts were just for show? Cutting off food and aid, setting up an embargo, constantly sending agents to the country, and successfully killing his allies - all for show?

I wonder if they'll go the China route and become more and more capitalist while retaining the "communist" branding

Going by what you read on the textbooks here in amerikkka, huh? my fellow Boricua.
Fidel Castro once ordered his men to bomb Santo Domingo during yhe Trujillo era, his men refused to do so becayse they saw us as brothers. I still have respect for this man although what the actions he tried to carry over my people. Trujillo ( i have some respect for him) was put into powers by yhe amerikkkans and he was aligned with them at that time. Heck he declared war on Germany (although he didn't sent troops to europe) because the U.S jumped into action during WW2.

You were finished when u said u respected to Trujillo. :unimpressed:
