they dont see the vision. in my opinion dram is falling off quality wise and black seems like just a trendy guy. raury got a lot of talent, not his fault album got leaked...but he was still doing major tv shows and a lot of live shows...
Raury is a different breed. I like some of his stuff not all of it.
But hes original.

When I heard Gods Whisper I thought son was going to be Kid Cudi reincarnated but I barely heard a peep after that.

Then those album numbers

Tbh I'm surprised Raury flopped as bad as he did. I think he did like 700 copies first week or something crazy like that. Also he's signed to Columbia and I'm not sure what they've done for any newer acts recently. If I'm an R&B or alternative artist I'm going to RCA (Sza, Bryson Tiller, Chris Brown, Asap Rocky). RCA and Columbia are both under Sony so that should be a relatively simple transition.

well i dont think he was very known when the album dropped...the album seemed to come out of nowhere and he was still very new to the scene...not sure why they rushed it out like that knowing how fickle the urban scene is especially when you have something different like him...seems like they should have built him up like tde did sza. also, maybe he just got dropped from LVRN as managers...he might remain signed to columbia as a record label if they were separate contracts.

EDIT: nevermind, i read the article posted in the thread and he did leave columbia too

Perfect case of an "industry plant" being handled terribly. They thought word of him writing for Kanye would be enough to sell him. There was no focus on building him up as an artist, ie creating a fanbase and getting out on the road (or opening for Kanye). They trotted him out as some rap genius who is the next Kanye, and nobody cared because the music was never front and center. Noisey running an article on how great you are doesn't make it so.

Timbaland did this to Tink btw. So much focus on comparing her to greats, talking about who she's working with etc while not releasing music.

While Timbo did botch the promotion of tink I think it's a bit more to it regarding women and the rappers they choose to support. Btw Tink randomly has a song that has like 150 million views. It originally came out 2014 but randomly went viral in 2016. I always wondered why the label didn't try to get behind it.
