Perfect case of an "industry plant" being handled terribly. They thought word of him writing for Kanye would be enough to sell him. There was no focus on building him up as an artist, ie creating a fanbase and getting out on the road (or opening for Kanye). They trotted him out as some rap genius who is the next Kanye, and nobody cared because the music was never front and center. Noisey running an article on how great you are doesn't make it so.

Timbaland did this to Tink btw. So much focus on comparing her to greats, talking about who she's working with etc while not releasing music.

Same shyt happened to Danny! back in the day. Everybody spent so much time comparing him to Kanye that it kinda fukked up his ability to create his own base.

I remember 2dopeboys and other sites running with a story that Hov was a big fan of Danny! yet that was the only coverage he'd really get. Yea they posted his songs but never really delved into who he is.

I respect what he is doing and truth be told I could see he has talent. He just has to grow into his own flow and get rid of the aspect of him that sounds a little too righteous and filled with amateur wannabe. I mean capital Steez used to rap about spiritual shyt and being an indigo but his shyt seemed authentic while this guy here seems like it's a shtick and part of a fake deep caricature.

The devil's whisper song is dope though for what he was trying to do and the freestyle was solid.
