Before the Rihanna situation, he had a squeaky clean record. Keep in mind that he was only 19 when this happened. He went from being a young marketable non-threatening R&B act to a "thug" overnight. Afterwards, he kept trying to clean up his image and show people that he made a bad decision and was remorseful but the media still kept shytting on him.
