I get that.

And as a person that supports black artist, I believe that they have every right to how they express themselves in their art.

However, something about this seems different. It's political, obviously.

I see parallels to the recent issue between JK Rowling and the trans right activists. JK Rowling essentially saying I am an ally to your cause and support bringing your issues to the forefront but I won't participate in the erasure of issues that affect natural born women to push your agenda. Hence, why I foresee a natural reckoning between the women's rights movements and proponents of the lgb(t) movement who seek to do away with biology, the very factor at the center of women's rights.

Same issue here, we're seeing a natural reckoning between between civil rights and LGBT proponents who seek to divert from the very factors that contribute to, in this instance, police brutality.

I don't know, if we call out proponents of "all lives matter" with respect to racial issues, we should equally be able to apply that in this context, which is basically an "all genders/sexualities matter" on an issue that overwhelmingly affect black straight males. I say this also recognizing straight black women being affected by police brutality as well.

I agree with you in regards to splicing a movement down and it in turn waters down it’s meaning.

I think the difficult part is that it’s very clear “Black Lives Matter” has been co opted. It’s all about if you want change, or if you want singular recognition. If change happens by “including” gay/trans black people (which is should because they are black people first :snoop:) then so be it.

No, the black community needs to stay on code. Our leaders our often targeting, vilified and/or killed

That’s impossible to do because everyone has their own agenda. Just because we’re all fighting for the same cause, doesn’t mean we all have the same tolerances.

In the case of the OP where the BLM movement is Trojan horse for LGBTQ rights, what makes you think these people would continue to fight once their demands pertaining to LGBTQ rights have been met?

Leadership and a leadership pipeline is essential to get things done in a timely and strategic fashion. Very few things can be done by committee.

dangerous and dismissive thinking. Needs to be leadership and a strong straight male at the forefront, a role model type that young men want to look up to and would follow to get the whole thing organized and productive.
What??

Why did you quote me with this?

This thread was bushed because TLR is allergic to cogent, nuanced arguments. You are wasting your time

Edit: This thread will also be bushed. A better avenue to spread awareness would be medium/YouTube/twitter

Forreal. I was shocked at how much resistance I ran into for trying to inform people about something that has already happened.

These people hate straight black men just as much as white people, however without our visibility they would be invisible. They use our bodies to get jobs and closer to massa.

Hundreds of feminists and lbtqq blacks will get jobs as useless diversity and inclusion officers in corporations in the wake of these progress and nothing much else will be done.
