Re watching smackdown from 03-04 and realized..

It's insane how they tried to pushing all these guys and none of them worked

Was vince just trying to push any big guy he spotted and hoped that it worked

Looking back, the Mordecai character had tons of potential as basically the anti-Undertaker but the guy who wrestled as him (Kevin Thorne) was green as gooseshyt at the time and the character flopped after like 2 months lol.

They finally got one right with Umaga after all of those guys. It's kind of crazy how they gave him such a simple gimmick, and it somehow worked, but none of those wrestlers did.

Yes, i think by that point Johnny Ace was doing the hiring instead of JR, and he's a firm believer in Vince idea of bigger automatically equals better
