:pachaha:at thinking a 30 year old read option QB still healthy running that type of offense after being in the league over 5 years.

QBs will smarten up sooner or later on the risks of running an offense where they'll likely shorten their NFL career.

RG3 is already hurt. Kaepernick will learn:skip:

The read option will work fine for years to come...

..As long as your QB is young.

The true test will be taking these read option QB's and turning them into pocket passers, to pro long there careers. If you want to play into your late 30's early 40's you have to be a pocket passer IMHO.

What if....teams started not giving a fukk and the QB position became similar to the RB position....:ehh:

It's just another "nicca you out by 30" position....:whoo:

ravens did that in the superbowl it worked pretty well

Oh so we gon act like the kid didn't bring his team back and be 5 yards away and a blatant PI on Crabtree in the endzone:beli:. The dude is legit. 10 starts. Gives GB and ATL that work in the playoffs. Goes to the superbowl and thrusted into his first 2min drill for the win and almost gets it :why:. Yall trippin. 2Kap and the pistol offense is a prob.

And how's RG3's knee doing. I hate to say it but it's a just matter of time before Kap suffers the same fate.
brehs dont realize RG3 didnt get injured against the Ravens on a read option play. :snoop:

if it wasnt for the read option, RG3 would have played 5 games last season. that Redskins OLine is terrible. Tyler Polumbus :why:

At the end of the day you still have to be able to make NFL type throws. You still have to drop back and pass. It works now because teams don't game plan for it every week. That's why Chip Kelly gonna be in for a rude awakening.

:what:

These teams have built their offenses to support such a scheme, that's why it works.

regardless of teams game planning for such an offense every week, it'll continue to work as long as they have the right players for the system.

Sean Payton got Brees launching balls 40-50x a game, and been doing that for the last 6 years.... teams have game planned for them for years, why are they still able to do it?

if Chip Kelly can get anywhere close to the tempo he had with the Ducks with 9-12 seconds between each play... barring injuries, it's gonna be very effective

NFL refs say they not gonna allow Chip to have the same tempo he had in college

"We have to make sure teams understand that they don't control the tempo, our officials do," NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino told The Wall Street Journal. "We're going through our normal ball mechanics, we aren't going to rush [unless] it's in the two minute drill."

Kelly say he not worried tho

One year soon, a team with a good, mid level QB (Cutler esque) will trade him to another team for picks and talent, use cap space to sign top offensive line, RB and defensive talent and draft like 3 read option quarterbacks in the next draft. Basically some teams will go the SEA/SF route - spend on other positions while trying to get lucky in the draft with a read option QB (with a cheap rookie contract).

:beli:Sea/SF didnt go that route. They been building on them teams for years with traditional QB's at the hellm. It just so happens that 2Kap and DangeRuss who are not read option QB's fell into their laps and beat out the traditional QB's by passing the ball accurately and can run effeciently. Kap was a pistol QB and Russ was just a short nikka dropping bombs who also could scramble.

The one thing I'm ready to see is a team who runs it, have a backup that they can throw in there and keep it going. Hate to use RGIII as an example but none of his backups outside of Pat White (who might not even make the team) can run it. A lot of these teams have traditional drop back style QBs for backups. Are they going to have two different offensive sets for each QB?
