:what:

These teams have built their offenses to support such a scheme, that's why it works.

regardless of teams game planning for such an offense every week, it'll continue to work as long as they have the right players for the system.

Sean Payton got Brees launching balls 40-50x a game, and been doing that for the last 6 years.... teams have game planned for them for years, why are they still able to do it?

if Chip Kelly can get anywhere close to the tempo he had with the Ducks with 9-12 seconds between each play... barring injuries, it's gonna be very effective

bad comparison,in a league where its now easy as hell to throw and complete 60 percent of the passes throwing 40 to 50 times a game with an elite qb cant really be stopped no matter what you try to do the rules make it too easy for the great qb's

the reason why the read option works is because these QB's who run it are beast, with great arms,
great feel for playing the position and reading defenses
they are truly dual threats
in RGIII's case, he has more a running attack more so than anyone else and that will lead to him getting hurt
if he doesn't make changes to that
But Wilson and Kaepernick only take off when its open field ahead or when there's a weakness in the defense
they exploit with the right play being called

Look at the wildcat.

they been running the read option since Jim Thorpe nikka, its nothing like the wildcat, this shyt is old
there's no deception in the wild cat, everybody knows the running back can't throw
when the option is called an option for a reason, its a multitude of choices the ball carrier can make
depending on how the defense reacts

And how's RG3's knee doing. I hate to say it but it's a just matter of time before Kap suffers the same fate.

:snoop: except that he got hit when he was scrambling on busted plays and didnt want to slide or get out of bounds when he shouldve. It had nothing to do with read option.

nikkas really think it's that simple? "JUST HIT THE QB NO MATTER WHAT" So as a DC you're gonna accept the teams RB gashing you for 10+ yards and a 15-yard penalty tacked on everytime? Thats your strategy?

Notice how they were sending Suggs to try to kill Kaep on every play and Frank Gore was killing the ravens

The problem on here is if you say that people take that to mean your saying rg3 will be out the league in a few years when that's not necessarily the case . He'll just have to be more of a pocket passer

Almost every QB running the read option right now is tremendously talented.

RG3
Kaep
Wilson

None of these guys need that shyt to succeed.

If there QB is getting slammed on every read option play than yes I'm okay with it. It's better than just standing there and watching there QB pick you apart while not getting touched. At some point the other team will have to reevaluate if they wanna keep testing fate and risk injury to there star QB.

If I was a NFL defensive coordinator I would just tell my defense not to worry about the runner and go straight for the QB every time and make the other team think twice about running the read option.

They're already taught this, at least when I palyed in high school this si what we were told. Coach would be like straight up, fukk it and smack the qb everytime. The problem with doing it in the nfl is:

Also cant forget about the subsequent fines afterwards.

this is true, that long td chris johnson had against the skins the first preseason game was b/c Orakpo didnt stay at home and just went head hunting for the QB, granted it was on the backside but somewhat the same principle

How?

the reason why the read option works so well, is cause the QB's who are running it are great passers, and complete passes at a high percentage.

you up them QB's in just a r

Kaepernick,Wilson and RG3 all completed above a 60% clip, and had power running games on top of their effective passing games.

this aint the po dunk shyt they cooked up for Tebow in Denver, cause he couldn't pass on an NFL level..

Im sick of hearing people bring up rg3 to discredit the safety of the read-option for a qb. He didn't even get hit in that play that tore his cal, and ngata cheap shotted him.
