just so you guys know, this "documentary" is not north korean.

it's a couple guys doing some sort of social experiment.

the supposed north korean giving his analysis was acting.

it's not really real.

look up 'slavko martinov'.

just sayin'...

Peace

This is not a North Korean documentary. It was made in New Zealand and the presenter is South Korean. I am not judging North Korea and I urge you to do the same. First solve problems in your country then look at others. Stop imperialist interventionism. This documentary is more truthful than 95% of what you see in Western media, which was one of the reasons why they came to public and revealed it was not made in NK, to clear his name among other South Koreans. It seems the whole thing started as an experiment, the kind I like I must admit. IIRC the true origin of the film was revealed sometime during autumn 2012 in Amsterdam where they participated in the film festival. In my opinion, the people behind it, including director S M did a very good job with minimum funds. The people in the west need to look at mirror.

As bad as some of the problems we have here, it's nowhere near what is going on in North Korea. Read about what goes on in some of those North Korean prison camps and you'll be very thankful for living in America.

It's not about comparing the 2 countries, it's about seeing our flaws and improving OUR situation. We WANT to evolve, not be content. If they want to stay in the stone ages, that's their problem, but I care more about our social issues and if someone wants to highlight our flaws, perfect we can see where we need to adjust and progress. the fact that they're still way behind and helping us progress is even funnier. it's like "thanks for spotting that error for us" see ya in the dust. :hov:

nikkas are really sitting here gettin mad. :heh:

America definitely has a lot to improve. But let's be real about everything. America is a literal paradise compared to what's going on over there. They have problems with cannibalism due to starvation and the prison camps over there are some of the worst things you can hear about.

To this day Shin bears both the physical and emotional scars of his time in prison. As a child, he worked in a sewing factory. One day when he mistakenly dropped one of the machines, his punishment was to have the tip of his middle finger cut off.
He has severe burn scars on his back from being tortured. He described how prison guards punished him after his mother and brother tried to escape, even though Shin was the one who turned them in. They hung him by his arms and feet and set him over an open fire.
Shin said he didn't understand family in the normal sense. He knew that he would be punished if his mother and brother tried to escape. So to him, there was no choice but to tell the guards of their plan and avoid certain execution.
"I was 14 years old when my mother and brother were publically executed, but I felt no emotion," Shin said. "Rather, I felt relieved that I was not the one that was tied to the wooden stake of the executing, so that was what I felt at the time... I felt my mom and brother broke the prison camp rules so that they deserved what they were going through at that moment."
He watched as his mother was hanged and his brother was killed by a firing squad. It was two years after escaping to South Korea when he finally felt any guilt.

There is a book one of those escaped prisoners made about it and it is some of the worst stuff you can hear about. America certainly isn't perfect, but it is leagues beyond North Korea.
