the level of arrogance displayed here was there was really no reason for him to treat benny like that. he was just being a jerk. all benny wanted was to break bread with the king and have carlito drop some knowledge on the game but carlito's hubris got in the way of common sense. you've been locked up for how many years my dude? things change, a new guy came up and is running block now so show some respect. if he had just showed benny an ounce of respect he wouldnt have gotten his wig pushed back and woulda still been fukking that blond in the ass on whatever island he was headed to

Benny just wanted game...but Carlito shouldve killed Benny when he had the chance...he knew a young up n coming dude wouldnt let that go...but he was missing all the angles...he was warned bout Pachanga but he let it go...he seen Kleinfield going outta control but still got on that boat...poor lito, I hate it had to be him...that loyalty got him in the dirt

No man. Coke head ass Dave was fukking Benny's girl in the bathroom, that's what started the argument. And even after that, Benny tried to send over a bottle to smooth things over. Carlito, feeling like he was the boss, felt obligated to ride with his homie. If you remove Dave and that girl from the equation, it's a totally different scenario. Carlito might've still Benny, but I doubt he would've did it to the extent that he did in this scene, trying to defend Dave.

carlito wasn't worried about some little shorty shiit stain named benny blanco. he was big time, the kind of dude benny would look up to. benny was disrespected, and carlito being older, just got sloppy with it. on top of that, i i think benny was jealous of carlito, and carlito didn't realize how far benny would take it. he let the woman soften him up a little bit too. it's been so long since i've seen the movie, but i know he says something about the punk should be glad he's not the way he was before. looking back on the movie, it shows a guy who goes from being a gangster, to wanting to lead a more care free and crime-less life. the movie is an absolute classic.
