Sniping is strategic just like in the military. you can stand off and cover an asset and even if you don't kill someone you can suppress them. Good snipers also spot like crazy and SOFLAM targets. A good sniper is like a mini-commander.

The BAD snipers are just interested in how long range a headshot they can get.
