Then I'm basic. Read the etymology of 'lasagna'. One of the earliest possible etymologies for 'lasagna' means 'unleavened bread'. What did the Jews (slaves) eat when they escaped Egypt (or Pharaoh let them go, depending on whom you ask)? What do Jews and Catholics still eat during certain Holy Days in spring, and what does it commemorate for each group?

It's an entree. How important is mealtime to Italians? Especially the Hollywood version of Italian-Americans?

The letter 'g' is silent in 'lasagna', but does silence at the dinner table mean?

And what does silence in the mob as well as the streets mean? Is breaking bread at a table for small talk, or real business, or neither?
:ohhh:

ya'll nikkas really trying to overanalyse this line. Just take it for what it is. A dope line (in comparison to all the other ass lines on The Carter V). First time I heard this line, once i had processed it all, i legit had the :ohhh: face.

I would say its better than the keef line and more along the lines of "bullets breeze by you like Louisiana mayne"

As for the naS line I just cant agree, it shows no thought or effort at all, not clever or creative in the slightest. My kindergarten age niece coulda wrote that.

In order to write the wayne line you at least have to have an awareness of how g's move AND a spelling of words with silent letters
Or you heard DJ Quik spit against MC Eiht...

The line may seem dope to someone with a basic education...

But he doesn't really explain what lasagna has to do with being a real "g"...It is just a bad simile, because lasagna doesn't move at all...It sits on the plate until its consumed...

Hip Hop is so full of bad similes...One reason I stopped paying attention to lyrics, and I just started focusing on delivery...I am enjoying hip hop more this way...

Jay Z had a better line in one of his songs, where he rapped "Murder is hard to digest"...That's how you right a dope bar..It is very subtle and makes SENSE which way you break it down...

Or 2Pac's "We can't get peace, until nikkas get a piece too" Dope bar...

(1) I get the line, and I am saying it is basic childish misused simile...What don't you get about that...?

(2) Here is a Wikipedia definition of a simile, "a simile is a rhetorical figure expressing comparison or likeness that directly compares two objects through some connective word such as like, as, so, than, or a verb such as resembles."

(3) Yes, in a proper simile when you state something is "like" another thing, it means that they have SIMILARITIES...Therefore, my question is what does lasagna have to do with "real gs"...What is the connection...?

Conclusion,
That line was a WEAK simile...There was very little INTELLECTUAL thought process put into it...It clearly shows the basic education level of whoever wrote that rhyme...

This is why I don't listen to hip hop for the lyrics any more...I am too highly educated to respect the average rapper's writing abilities...I listen to hip hop for the delivery, because that is were the real talent lies...

Anybody can write rhymes full off punchlines from Yahoo Jokes and inappropriate similes and weak metaphors, but can they convince me with their delivery...?

The delivery and the beat are the most important aspects of hip hop performance...

This is my opinion...I am sure you have yours...
:what:

I'm so high I can eat a sat could make sense though.
If he's saying that he's so high he could eat something big and so high that he's "flying high".

The fact that you think I am trolling makes me question your critical thinking abilities...

Anybody with a higher education, will only get a chuckle from that little line...At best...

Hip hop is about the delivery and the beat...Look at Canibus' career and tell me I am lying...:lolbron:
