As someone that works with these numbers, I think the perception of each metro in Texas is pretty interesting. For example, while San Antonio is very influenced and over half hispanic as a metro, its numbers are far less compared to Houston and Dallas. Or while Houston is perceived as a much more international city, its really the net migration of Hispanics vs Whites that make up the differences(Houston more hispanic 2.3 mill vs 1.9 mill and DFW more white) in their diversity indexes, while Houston being perceived as far more asian is incorrect as the two are close in raw numbers. Always interesting to hear Indians talk about Katy and Sugarland as Indian paradise, when they are more in Plano and Irving.
Its correct that Austin is the whitest of the big 4 Texas metros. Its the only one that is 50% white.
