Chris Lighty was friends with both of them. He had been begging them to squash the beef for a while. Joe and 50 was like "fukk that".

Lighty died and they had a BET tribute. Prior to the event their trailers were kinda close to each other, so there was obvious tension.

One day 50 popped up alone at Fat Joe's trailer, and offered to shake Joe's hand. Joe was like and 50 told him he wanted to squash the beef, it's what Lighty wanted. After that it was done.

Apart of online marketing. Most of them come straight of the 50 Cent websites. Check this forum & especially Boxden. There is literally at least 5 threads about him everyday NOT related to music at all. And of course most of them are white dudes who really enjoy riding their white god Eminem's "black best friend" 50 Cent - since he was their first exposure to "black guy street rapper". Most of them were basically brought to hip-hop by Eminem & then introduced to more street rap via 50 cent. So they're gods to them.
