Like I said..you was with him when he was spitting about selling a destructive product to our people..but this.is what grinds your gears??

You can try and mask your envy for Jay with some faux righteous condemnation of this marketing campaign..but everyone here sees it for what it is.

An angry lil boy who wants to blame his failure on all the hard work and success of another man.

Jay is trying to leave as great of a legacy as he can...yet you're telling him he should chill cuz you feel he's reached a high enough level..?

You ever consider that his aspirations are a bit higher than the limits you wanna place on him breh :usure:

Get your angry "Satan hating and envying Jesus" ass outta here u smartdumb fakket :obama:

When did jay ever promote his lifestyle??? He told stories a lot of nikkas in the street could relate to... You sucking wild cac dikk right fukk boy baptize your mind and see the bigger picture...

Jay-Z has mastered the art of fluff. I mean, the dude ain't even that good anymore yet he got flocks of internet nerds calling him Hova, GAWD, or just plain ole Jay like he one of they homies.

You fukkin lames know that his rap name, right?

This guy isn't even top 5 all time. With every album he drops that lacks coherent direction and flawless execution, this guy's legacy becomes more diluted by the second.

You think he cares?

F*ck, no. This is the same guy that 'retired' from rap 10 years ago.

First off, @George Gooney do you wear Nikes? This is exactly what they do, pump us with slick advertising methods and overt advertising methods...make folks fiend for their product blindly and shoot and kill for their prime work (ie: Jordans, Lebrons, Foams, etc) they dog their workers and basically put it in their face by saying "take it or leave it" when they KNOW they have no other options.

I'm a Jay-Z fan tried and true, but I'm a realist as well and I understand and accept Hov is corporate now, no turning back whatsoever. He can NEVER do another "Reasonable Doubt" or "The Blueprint" again, he isn't in that space, "hungry" or "just getting to REAL commercial success" respectively, anymore but I'm a lifer with this cat. I just know how to listen and process his music. People loved Elvis, if they put out a "compilation" album right now i'm certain it'll go platinum. Some folks just support folks for THEIR reasons.

As a Lupe Stan...I feel you with this post.:lupe:

But I've accepted it years ago. Hov will never try to hide who he is. And it's sad. I was pulling for Yeezus. But Hov just did what he does best. He keeps his friends close and his enemies closer.

Kanye realized this within the past year. This immediately brings to mind those rants while he was touring in Europe being anti Corporations etc and not wanting to be on the radio....and even saying that slick shyt about Suit and Tie.

He probably didn't want to sign on with this corporate take over. So he decided to go the opposite route and not use cellphone apps and other BS to push a record. I respect that...but oh well.

ALL I KNOW IS THAT IF THEY BEEF IT WILL BE EPIC :lawd:

can you imagine the ammo each side has brehs? From Camel shots to wifin up a Hoe-dashian. I think Jay got more ammo though. Kilts and shyt:russ:

this is a good post to me...Feels like it would explain a lot of things...

If I remember correctly, Black Album had a similar promotion with a Razr phone or something like that.. Couldn't find reference, other than my own memories. I don't care - Jay's staying paid like anyone would in his position. Despite that, Jigga's putting out some heatrocks on this album, so who the fukk cares if he got himself a deal - he's earned it. :pacspit:

The promo ad was good shyt. Don't lie. I can look past the corporate Samsung bullshyt, because I'll just go buy the CD, Samsung doesn't affect my experience at all. :rudy:

This guy has rode the back of every person he has dealt with. I don't really see how you can overlook this. The dude has been a walking attention wh*re his whole rap career.

Yet he's convinced you that's part of the 'hustle'.

N*gga, please. That don't do it for me. What the f*ck you stand for? What are your artistic values that you hope to pass down to generations below you?

I could go on but it will all be for naught because many of you were reared on this n*gga's over the top, filler lyrics. You place little value on authenticity which is why you can so easily hail this dude as a pioneer when he's anything but that.

Exactly.

But cats will try their hardest to muster up excuses to hate on dudes when they become "too successful". Run DMC had a world tour sponsored by adidas. adidas had been makin' money off of Hip Hop heads for years, why not spread that love back to the culture? Run DMC reaped the benefits of them seein' how influential we were in their shoes sellin'.

Jay's been able to use his music influence to get companies to back his music and fund his promotion for his own brand, himself. That means that he doesn't have to spend his own money, and that these corporations feel that connecting themselves to him, will help them with their products. He's simply doing what these companies have done to Hip Hop for over three decades, using them. But the insecure-minded cats, who live these miserable and limited lives cry foul because they can't stand to see someone who comes from the same place as they do and looks like them, doing so much more than they believe they could do themselves. And that's some sad shyt. Don't get mad at this brother for makin' the moves you were scared to make yourself. You believed people when they told you that you weren't shyt and wouldn't amount to much. Don't try to shyt on people who didn't believe the hype.

Who gives a fukk about the business behind the deal? As a listener, all anyone should be concerned about, is how this album sounds. THAT'S Hip Hop.

Bruh, i can feel you. I look at it like I'm supporting a black man come from nothing to chillin with POTUS and either way you chop it up, that's monumental. I support black accomplishments big and small...from Jay going for a billion to the youngster at my church who made the honor roll...That cat breakin barriers man, with no formal college degree, hell maybe not even a HS (i'm kinda biased cuz I'ma Jay fan, but I COP Nas, Fabolous, etc albums just as fast because they're my favorites) Dude is trying to be powerful and doing what ANY of us would do in his position, STUNT.

I do miss Reasonable Doubt, Illmatic, type music...I REALLY do, I miss the passion and emotion but I got CD's so I continue to listen to that....but I've also accepted times and music have changed, and adjusted accordingly

You call Jay-Z insecure but yet you rant, rave, bytch & moan over a man you've never met in your life....

What he's doing is unprecedented within the hip-hop culture. You have to respect it. 20 some years ago this would never even have been thought off the culture could accomplish.

"I do this for my culture" -- Jay-Z
