Yup Batman Returns is better
It had all the strengths of the original, but was a better watch - storywise, coherency wise, etc.

People forgot how huge an influence Nicholson’s Joker was. It had Hollywood featuring villains after it came out. Robin Hood, dikk Tracy, Hook (they named the whole movie after the bad guy), Silence of the Lambs, etc. were all made trying to capture that “villain steals the show” energy.
I never collected the comics but Jack also made the Joker a scary unpredictable psycho instead of a clown like the 60s show.

No it wasn't, Tim Burton had full reign to do all the weird ass shyt he wanted, the movie was too weird to the point it wasn't even a batman movie it was tim burton weirdo movie featuring batman

Naw, this movie looked like Edward Scissorhands and Nightmare before christmas than batman, the camera works was good but it wasn't batman
Salina gets brought back to life by getting bitten up by some cats, that scene was disgusting and stupid
don't see how anybody can take the movie serious, then the army of penguins then penguin having a circus army of goons, I mean since when was penguin associated with clowns and the circus
The joker poison the city with joker gas is straight out of the comic books, penguin motivations didn't make any sense, the max shrek character was the main villain, the final climax does not compare to the first one, batman returns don't have any iconic scenes or quotables
I mean the Joker had quotables, wait to get a load of me, have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moon light, him being a 1940's style gangsta and going crazy for being dropped in some chemicals is a way better origin story than any of the shyt the villains had in Batman returns
