So, this thread is inspired by a conversation I've been having with my co-workers today.

Forget the incest jokes, blah blah I'm not talking about a woman who looks like your mother or shyt like that :comeon: but one who behaves like your mother. Real talk.

Apparently your relationship with your mother and how you perceive her has a strong impact on how you view women before you go out into the world and what standards you expect from women in the home.

Of course, as in the case of my co-worker it could be the opposite, so he said his mother was 'over bearing' 'loud' and 'shouted too much' so he seeks women who are more timid and quiet :ehh:

We all know that you hear women going on and on about not wanting men like their fathers OR going on about how much their 'daddy' and no man comes close to their 'daddy' but no-one really talks about the other side of things....

So simple question :

could you marry a woman who behaves like your mother ? Has she raised your standard of what you expect from your future wife or do want someone who is nothing like her ? and why ?

When you think of how your mother handled the home, behaved, her role in the home as a wife and mother would you marry a woman like her ?

My answer ?

nope-o.gif

My mum has calmed down a lot now she's in her 50's but in her hey day she was nuts :wow: Neighbours could hear her voice from 3 houses away :wow:

I'm not sure I could handle all my pops did :wow:

I have few dealbreakers- this is one of them. Must be nothing like my mother, specifically in the areas of cooking/nagging/arguing with people just to create drama so you can complain about them.

Your mother didn't cook and argued a lot ?

I was gonna say no, but then I realized I was thinking as a child's perspective instead of my dads.

So I changed my answer to yes.

Moms was great but she was not loving like other moms, its hard to explain.

edit: loving is not the word lol she was just ultra aggresive. She loved me/us.

Somewhere tropic...
I would want a woman with some of my Mom's characteristics
She's very loyal and family oriented; it's all about family with her, she's dignified and believes women should conduct themselves likewise
On the other hand she's extremely bossy and my Dad is henpecked
I'll be goddamned if I deal with that for the rest of my life.

I was thinking this :lupe:

Would you want your kids do deal with the aggression you did ?

I think the aggression did me good and I wasn't spoilt or baby'd but I'm not quite sure if I want my home dynamic to be like that :lupe:

She cooked, but infrequently, horribly, and grudgingly. I've had some struggle dinners in my day fam :sadcam:

Her whole family has this weird fixation with food/weight, she and my aunts are always talking about stuff food and fat content, yet sabotage themselves by being carbaholics.

And she might very well be the most argumentative, disagreeable, needlessly passive aggressive person I know.
