Realistically how would a modern Mass Effect even work?

It's suggesting taking something that is a part of the series DNA and removing it. The analogy fits it just forces you to confront how terrible your take was.
My take will have them as a respected company again

And your analogy is terrible because you downgraded the gameplay of call of duty, interactive dialogue doesn’t move the needle in gameplay, I’m saying most of they resources go towards gameplay, damn a dialogue , mf a paragon and renegade

That’s if they want to make a goty type game

Interactive dialogue is whatever

But yall really think running around town talking to npc’s is super appealing gameplay, something you can’t live without?

It would get shytted on for gay sex and loading screens for sure :ehh:
The Ashley like companion would become the unofficial mascot.
The genophage level choices would been as forced woke nonsense.
AI companions questioning their personhoods will be seen as a stealth trans issue.
Something about bio-amps scars being allegory for top scars
Etc

You'd be left with a squad based shooter game with fixed cutscenes where the player doesn't have influence over the direction at all. Why bother calling that Mass Effect?

They made Andromeda already which was heavily destroyed and that was just a shooter where choices didn't matter and dialog didn't matter.

People aren't coming to Mass Effect just to be gears of war. Dialogue choices, questing, etc. Is gameplay.

You're missing the whole point of Mass Effect. If you want a FPS or TPS they make those already.

Mind you they already dumbed down Mass Effect to be more of a shooter but stripping out RPG mechanics and still calling the game Mass Effect is pointless. Just end the series and make a new IP because they'd be killing it anyway doing what you're saying.

I think they could do with downscaling.

If they went the Cyberpunk approach, they'd be able to complete a number of games in the same engine, exploring the same areas, but telling rich and fulfilling stories.
