Even though i'm a Sci-Fi Head and will be going to watch all 3 films. I have to agree. It's clear they all deal with the same plot-elements/themes. The main premises are way to similar for Hollywood to try and pass all 3 of them off as different films. I wonder which one I will like the best. "Oblivion" is up to bat 1st then "After Earth" in June and "Elysium" to finish off the summer. Like people have said, Hollywood has done this before. My senior year in high school in 98, "Deep Impact" and "Armegeddon" dropped the same summer. This summer as someone said, "Olympus and White House Down" are dropping. So Hollywood clearly has ran out of ideas and are just recycling the same stories but if No Idea is truely original anymore, I guess it's how you do it. I hope all 3 are good. Someone even wrote an article about it recently:
"AFTER EARTH OBLIVION GOES TO THE ELYSIUM"
Are After Earth, Oblivion and Elysium all telling the same story?
Here's how I rate the triailers:
Oblivion - B+ (Sold me, looks cool and I happen to like "Tron Legacy" so I like this director's style)
Elysium - B + (Sold me, like how choatic earth looked and it's the follow up to "District 9")
After Earth - C+ (Will is trying to blow up his son but I felt he should of lead this movie plus M Knight is on shaky ground with me after his last 4 films)
