Straight Out The Gate is a hype song and one of the best on the album, but calling it a dark song is a reach. Killing You is dark, Blackened The Sun is dark, Paint A Dark Picture, Seepage, Tormented, KOD, Alucard, The Beast, Monster, ect are dark songs. Even All 6's & 7's had Cult Leader and Face Paint. Straight Out The Gate is more like a bootleg Riot Maker.
Most of the album is made up of "woe is me" personal songs with as many guest features crammed in as possible, there aren't as many party songs, but are you just gonna overlook Dwamn, With The BS and See Me? By the way, bytch is an embarrassingly bad concept song.
My main point is he's taking his music in a direction I don't like, while also deteriorating as a rapper at the same time. As the dude above said, it's a solid album but extremely underwhelming for Tech and one of his worst solo releases ever.
The Worst was pretty good, but he didn't really find his style until Anghellic. LOL @ it being great, you must have really low standards, it was practically a fukking demo album.
cats on here talk about being Technicians but hate on Something Else? i agree with some of the criticisms like a lot of the flows & syllable stacking is very similar to All 6's & 7's (and recent EP's) but it's a dope album IMO. what's wrong with introspective emotional joints? I'm Not A Saint, Fragile, Burn the World, Believe, etc if you're not feelin Straight Out The Gate then i feel sorry for you, maybe the heavier rock influence on the beats is throwing people off i have no idea what im talkin about, but one thing u might be right about is that u better stay away from the next EP
