Originally freeze priority and rocafella only negotiated to have a 500k first print run of rd

Which is why anyone saying they an original jay fan may be a liar. if they don't own the first print of rd.
Since jay flopped so badly when he went full on jiggy on vol I.
They never reprinted it till he finally blew.

It's funny how Jay literally forced people to see RD as a classic

Half brains and nitwits get forced to see things. Others have ears.

There isn't one throwaway track on Reasonable Doubt. That's how we know it's a classic.

As a matter of fact that's what I'm starting my cookout with today. :ehh:

Edit: lot of Drake stans responding in this thread. nikkas must be hurt by Jays not so subliminal subs.

If jay had the death row / bad boy hype machine behind him in 96 he would have went plat a lot sooner...

He was distributed through priority who were the distributors of the early high selling gangsta rap albums.
Don't make excuses,...jay flopped originally twice.
As culturally he is a sellout.

A lot was erroneously ruined in the cultural connection to the business of rap.
when puff fully damaged the culture protection mechanism in rap with nwo.

Originally culturally the whole album was throw away, breh.
Just jiggy changed a lot of perceptions and allowed the culture.
to be damaged and jay got to change his mythos to what he wants instead of the cultural truth.

jayz wasn't shyt until beyonce
Nah, he was very popular when the Hard Knock Life album came out, he was popular at that time like how popular Future is in current day.

Beyonce did make him this larger than life crossover star he is today though :ehh:

My cousin Mike was bumping on RD on day 1.

I'll be honest by saying originally I didn't even fukk with it. It was Vol 1 that made me go back.

So there's truth to what you are saying.

Hard Knock Life Jay-Z was much bigger than Future. White people who hated rap knew who Jay-Z was after that track. It was a cross cultural hit. Can't say the same about Future.

And don't go back comparing chart and billboard 100 numbers. Rap music wasn't where it's at now, back then.
