Stop the bullshyt if Jay didn't start from the hard knock life telling people it was slept on and it was classic and then Jay started using his clout to get the Source to give it a 5mic retroactively then throwing celebration concerts, pop up shops Jay has written books and will open about the album and how he made it and also using that LP as an excuse why he did Dame dirty.

To say Jay didn't force the notion is not true Jay has told you RD was a classic more times than any rap artist i can remember shyt even 50 doesn't push GRODT like jay does RD or Snoop with doggystyle.

Jay is a student of hip hop and he knows having a classic debut LP is what the legends have and he crafted and mined that til it is now a known classic but when it dropped it was in the same vein as Do or Die
Breh.........I thought it was an incredible album when I bought it in 97 and it's a classic to me now Jay's campaign has nothing to do with that.

Bullshyt is what you and some others are writing here. RD was highly respected and considered a classic long before even Jay was saying it:

Think about what it took to make it on this list back in January of 1998, way before Jay blew up with Vol 2 and had any real power or pull in the game. How many 1000's of Hip Hop albums were out by 98? RD earned a spot on this list on the publication that many considered the Hip Hop Bible in that era. Yall are the ones trying to revise history, but its respect is well documented, there's no arguing with this proof.

The problem is you got kids who probably weren't even born when the album was released, commenting on shyt like this, when they have no clue about anything that was going on back then.

Just straight up reciting shyt that they heard another person with a lack of hip hop knowledge, and trying to pass it of as fact.

What type of sheep do you people think people are :what: :what:

Do you think mad rappers, the whole hiphop fanbase except the dumb ass haters and on are calling it a classic cause Jay-z called it a classic. Rappers call themselves the goat too, but no one calls them goat. They call their albums classic but no one else does etc

He might be higher than god to you and some other weirdos but to the rest of us we couldn't give a fukk about if he calls any album a classic. He called BP3 one of his best albums, do you see any of us calling BP3 a classic album?

Please stop talking about the culture of hiphop from your jiggy DJ Hollywood puff gay perspective breh.
nikkaz keep talking about this album like culturally this shyt was what was poppin and IT WAS NOT.
IT IS REVISED IN HISTORY AS TO WHAT OCCURRED.
culturally, listening to jayz was the equivalent of listening to father emcee who sold crack meets wack cool c glamorous life hustler tale records with premium mca based features.
After big and Pac died jay had a chance go through the glass ceiling and use the sentimentalism and almost self ousting of puff as the jiggy sacrifical lamb on pe2ooo coupled with the MTV vh1 specials based era of 2oo0 on rap.
Which had no cultural basis but a good headfake to act like the cultural litmus test.
In a large influx of three gateway artist in two genres viewed as taboo.
In gangsta rap and jiggy in Pac, puff and biggie records.
Of which when the dis settled jayz used a fake pr friendly in death we were friends cover up of the jay/pac/big rivalry.
That also I find it funny all these years later pac clone war fans and subsequent fanbases who also had emotional windfall.
Do not readily expose this.
Yet since all the Stan bases of jiggy, Pac and other stans post humously of Pac and big.
Scamper to try to rewrite general consensus of what really happened do you ever get the truth from these Stan bases of Stan fans.

The shyt is wack and corny and it should be addressed,...
That Stan bases are not giving the real about the artist they Stan.
Resulting, in the form of emotional trickdown turned backlash meets jealousy against another Stan base.
A Stan base does not post or give a genuine cultural admission of the truth.
As it pertains to the artist they Stan or the culture of hiphop.
Most Stan bases are completely devoid of fans who even know what hiphop is and they should not be discussing a culture they don't know about.

Nor in large oversaturated population try to erroneously sway the general consensus to alter the factual and cultural history of hiphop and the business derived from its pillars.

Just shows how little sales should mean when it comes to discussing classics. First and foremost the rapping and material needs to be great, then the other stuff just adds on to it.
