Obviously not a parent. You learn pretty quickly the difference between crying. and trying to get attention. When my daughter cries the whole house jumps up and comes running. when she's just trying to get attention it sounds different. and my wife and i give each other the rock paper scissor look until it gets too annoying then one of us goes to entertain her.
