I really, really wish there could be rational discussion about TDE's roster and where talentwise the quarter stops rolling...I loved Section 80,H&C and my personal favourite Control System(I feel Ab is the better MC) but GKMC to me was overrated as a body of work.Kendrick's rise was more about timing and a cultural shift in hip hop that he rode to perfection but honestly...GKMC will not be in held in high regard as an amazing piece of work but as a landmark moment when the stranglehold of gangsta rap came to an end and "coming of age" rap outsold the usual suspects, which basically means that there was money to be made and big business came to the party late..I hope dude takes it elsewhere artistically because in my opinion the pandering to the mindstate of teenagers is career suicide..

its better than both imo, its just more soul influenced
This is whats wrong with Rap...too many dudes think because it doesn't sound hip hop its better. Reminds me of them white kids "I dont like rap but I love emenim":scust:

:dahell: this is all types of false. Gangster rap been a wrap sales wise far before Kendrick.

And he essentially is creating career suicide by not catering to his core hip hop base. He going for the artsy crowd which is risky. Hopefully he doesn't end up with a waste of a career like lupe

Respect your opinion but disagree on the fan core base...break them down for me and then read my comment again.

as far as gangsta rap goes...when i say gangsta rap,i'm not talking about jheri curled dudes in dikkies...for a long time you would not get near a record company's radar if the subject matter was not based on the framework that we call gangsta rap..you can name individual artists all day but in order to appeal to a larger amount of potential listeners the "gangsta" route still was/is viable.GKMC showed a lot of young kids that you can actually get your point across without the hyperbole of "gangsta" rap, older rap listeners knew this already, which is the same reason i feel he has to show a decent amount of growth with his next album..false relates to facts, not opinions based on what you want to see/how you would like things to be..still respect your arguments though

So we gone act like Drake, Ye, Lupe and countless other artist being pushed before him were not on that Gansta rap tip. Unless u a foreigner where music is always 3-4yr behind, aint no damn way he changed a landscape away from gangsta rap.

Shyt is laughable
Edit:'re read ya post...are you referencing him changing rap as far as the Cali scene or hip hop in general
