I really, really wish there could be rational discussion about TDE's roster and where talentwise the quarter stops rolling...I loved Section 80,H&C and my personal favourite Control System(I feel Ab is the better MC) but GKMC to me was overrated as a body of work.Kendrick's rise was more about timing and a cultural shift in hip hop that he rode to perfection but honestly...GKMC will not be in held in high regard as an amazing piece of work but as a landmark moment when the stranglehold of gangsta rap came to an end and "coming of age" rap outsold the usual suspects, which basically means that there was money to be made and big business came to the party late..I hope dude takes it elsewhere artistically because in my opinion the pandering to the mindstate of teenagers is career suicide..

Nah, GKMC marked the quick demise of Chief Keef and the hunger for lyrical rap for the youth.

This is whats wrong with Rap...too many dudes think because it doesn't sound hip hop its better. Reminds me of them white kids "I dont like rap but I love emenim":scust:

It sounds like a Ceelo Green record, IMO. Its catchy and positive.

Bullshyt.

it is possible to talk about music with objectivity (not saying everything is objective though) if you can put your bias aside. I'm from the hood but a lot of albums made for the hood are actually garbage from an objective standpoint.

And I have seen almost everybody praise the album, journalists, black people, cacs, streets nikkas, hip hop heads, nerds and fans from other genres.

A lot of these so called hood cats shyt on old school artists of the 80s like KRS and Chuck D. Plus they think that doing dirt = a better MC. :russ:

But Kendrick knows that there is a lot of hype behind this. He knows that he cannot fail.
