No budgets should be number 1. i mean NUMBER ONE. thats really where most of these guys fail especially producers who think that rappers are just gonna fukking come to them with no name and no noterity. a producer is only as good as the name attached. when you have a discography or get good features that boost you name it helps alot.

The thing is when these rappers "have a budget" everybody and their cousin wants to ask "well how much is your budget" and then they proceed how they can rape and pillage the whole thing like a clutch quarterback in the 2 minute drill who wants to drive the field and score but also not leave enough time on the clock for the other team to respond

I dont think any of that matters.

You got dudes like Hot Rod who mail a demo to 50 Cent and get signed. You got people who get discovered from SoundCloud. You got people who grind for ages and are super talented that the mainstream dont give a fukk about :mjcry:

so, sometimes...no

....most of the time...

its just not meant to be :yeshrug:

I can relate to that list:mjlol:

:mjcry:

I'm lazy , I'm cheap, I don't have a team and I may not even be that good (I've given legends mixtapes and been given no feedback). Still feel like I could put out a dope Album though. I care more about coli fukkery than improving my craft( at least that's what it looks like).

Also let me add not everyone wants people digging up shyt on them about being a Correctional officer when they get famous.

Depending on where you are you can make a living staying local and you have a lot more control of your brand. Once you get signed to a label the amount of compromises you have to make may offset the extra money you're making.

Midwest/East Coast/Tx (Now in Canada)
"Budget talk" = Mixtape middleman language. These hucksters enjoy stereotypical dopeboy manager/artists situations because they can keep eating off of the ignorant. Coast 2 Coast mixtapes = Fraudulent middleman bullshyt. Most of these services people offer are also fraudulent middleman shyt.
The only thing you should be spending $$$ on is mixing (you can learn that on your own), mastering (you can learn that on your own), a PUBLICIST, TRAVEL, and legitimate promotion. Everything else is fraud shyt...from Sony seminars to paying to play in "showcases"...People who throw "showcases" hate free open mics because the fake A&Rs they have fly down to sit in bored while idiots perform aren't getting paid. Nothing's wrong with soundcloud...any music sharing service is good...especially now that most people have smartphones. If you make beats and rap...and you're good to go if you can finesse your way into traveling. shyt, I used to sneak into club backstages and hand out demos or rap for artists...It's about putting yourself in the right place...around the right people...at the right time. The right money is a gamble. If people see money in you, they'll spend theirs on you trying to get more out of you.

Relationships and plugs can push you through more than money.

Nobody has the $3,000-$20,000 to pay a publicist who can open those doors. Plus none of it is a gaurantee. You pay to maybe get some looks on some sites but then you giving your music away free.

Only so long an artist can pay and not make any profit.

Even if you only hot for a week, if you don't blow it's back to the drawing board and the next new hot thing is out. You are forgotten and back to doing the same local shyt.
