Heating is a known issue with these phones. My Note 3 was hot like fire when I updated it.

At this point the new iPhone is a known quantity. It's going to be the iPhone 6s with a updated processor, slightly better camera, and no headphone jack. Lastly it may or may not have a force touch home button. There won't be enough changes that if you've bought an iPhone in the last two years it will be worth it. If you have an iPhone 6s it most definitely seems like a pass.
The new iPhone is just a placeholder until next year. They had to put something out so they made it a throwaway.
