yeah definitely, I dont think anyone could argue against that
supplements are just that, supplements....they're supposed to supplement/compliment a healthy lifestyle already
You would be surprised at the amount of people who see supplements as a fix to their problem. I mean, thats how i got involved in all this, cause I wanted a quick, definite fix.
wow, thats kind of serious
Looking back on it i'm inclined to agree with you. But just the fact that I was productive again made it worth it at the time.
I believe I was just at a low point in my life. Which was made worse because I was in america for that time period and only had access to Junk food.(Coming from a guy who eats Jamaican home cooked meals everyday) And nootropics made me feel close to myself again.
And you know the funny thing about it. Just two days prior to my post I decided to take one of my Nitrovit pills. In an effort to boost my memory before a test.
Hours after that I had the worst feeling in my stomach, like I was trying to digest something toxic. I felt so down and depressed I found it hard to even make conversation with anyone. Even with two of my best buds from highschool, one of them I haven't seen in years. The mental energy, and my social edge just wasnt there.
Makes me wonder how bad things must of been for me back then if this used to make me feel better.
yeah I definitely believe that. I actually tried meditating for a while but I just didn't have the patience for it.
Same. I was doing it twice a day for about 2 months (2 x 20 minutes). But now I fell off, and I only meditate when I'm really in need.
One tip I can give you is from Russell's book. And that's to push through it each time. If your 'mind' is going crazy and making you want to end it early, just remind your body that "your both stuck in this for the full 20 minutes, and we can either have 20 minutes of peace and relaxation, or twenty minutes of your chaos. But either way its going to be twenty minutes." After I started doing that, things started to get easier in the next couple sessions, then in some sessions it would be so peaceful i wouldn't want it to end, & there was one session that left me with this deep sense of happiness that I can only describe as a high. If I could feel that way after every meditation I would be the happiest man alive.
Also something I did occasionally was to double my time at night. So i would meditate for 40 minutes instead. I swear after doing that once, my next mediation session was a breeze. When my alarm went off I literally sat there wondering where the time went. It felt like 5 minutes had passed.
Doing it close to the time you sleep is also an option. You kinda 'sleep through the time'. Not literally, but you relax easier.
You can add some mantras at the end of each meditation and repeat each 7 times.(Just something I read online and started doing). And also during meditation visualize your exhale as if its going out that spot above where your eye brows meet. And experience the blood rush to it and the tingling sensation. But dont force the feeling, allow it to come to you and then simply sustain it.
One final tip, thought I dont do it enough. Is to start your meditation by imagining a white light shinning on/from your body. As this light slowly moves down from the top of your head, just imagine this light relaxing your body and muscles. And feel every fibre of your being relaxing. Slowly but surely. Dont be afraid to single out your features, relax your eye, your brow, your ears, everywhere. And be aware of when they get tense again, then relax them.
The product that I talked about in my op, Alpha Brain, has a video up where they broke down the science behind their clinical study findings
and in the video, the dude who conducted the study passingly claimed that no benefits was found from Ginkgo, which is interesting cause its such a popular supplement.
And that actually doesnt suprise me either cause I used it for a long time and I never felt like I got anything out of it.
Summary: Drink more water, get better sleep, meditate, exercise, eat healthier food, reap the rewards of feeling amazing 24/7
yeah I read that book before. Great book indeed, very easy to digest too.
I'm surprised that Ginko doesn't show to have an effect. That would mean most of the memory gains from it are placebo, and at the end of the day, placebo or not, gains are gains.
It's an excellent book. Glad you were fortunate enough to find it
