Red Alert is one my GOAT's.

This dude helped so many legends get their careers off the ground, it's not even funny. I remember Q-Tip saying that Red Alert was the only one that would play ATCQ records on NY radio. He said he was up there beggin' Tip to bring him the demos, saying people needed to hear that shyt.

He really had the best ear for music back then, and is one of the most humble people you'd ever meet. If allowed, Red will do this until he dies. That's real Hip Hop right there! I don't respect many people, as much as I do him, in music.

It goes back to slavery. My people's have been taught to hate ourselves and hate those who have paved the way for us, including our elders. Self hate is a mother f**ker. We as a people have been encouraged to on each other, drop out of school, go to prison, and this has trickled down into hip hop. In other forms of music, the forefathers are fully respected by the younger generation. Eg Rolling Stones. Many of our people come from broken homes and families with no fathers. Thus many of us never had a father to teach us how to respect elders, let alone ourselves.

It gets deep breh.

thats some real shyt......its just crazy to me what i see on here sometimes.....though i understand it i will never accept the separation from hip hops first generation to this one.....first i thought it was just like lil white nerds who dont really respect the culture just borrowin it makin these threads/posts but it seem its us too.....

i'm talking about "fans" specifically on here, but 50 & Nas doesn't fit what i'm saying either, that was a personal thing because they were friends at one point in time & Fif got butt hurt when Nas did a song in place of 50. Nelly & KRS doesn't quite fit either because i bet if you ask Nelly if KRS is a dope MC or a legend he would probably say yes. battling another MC or even beefing with someone is different to outright disrespect for no reason like "oh he looks old what a loser? what kind of 60 year old has white hair!?!?"
