Threads like these are always a joy to read. People make claims, toss out anecdotal evidence to support those claims, adamantly refuse to consider other people's point of view and by the end of it all, we have an intricate web of ideas, concepts & claims that nobody is able to unravel.

I started reading this thread and right now I'm more confused than I was initially.

Here's my $0.02:

I'm black, dark-skinned and have every reason to be bitter, hateful and envious towards my lightskin brethren but I'm not because I think I have an understanding how the world operates. Everybody's right and everybody's not right in the sense that everything's that's being said here strikes very close to the heart of the problem, although not directly. The reality is that, shyt is complicated.

In my experience, if you're attractive, then good things await you. It doesn't matter if you're white, black, middle-eastern, dravidian, shyt doesn't matter. I really hate it when people make blanket statements, like if you're dark then ___ or if you're light-skinned then ___. Not everybody who's dark skinned is attractive. If you're dark and unattractive, then the natural consequence of that is you'll hold a grudge. I'm not the most attractive guy in the world, and I do believe that my skin plays a role. I used to hold a grudge because I didn't think it was fair. But after maturing a little bit I realized that it was all foolish, and I was simply using my skin color as a crutch. It also helped to have a brother who was on the whole more sociable, attractive and charming than me. He had no problems getting girls and pretty much couldn't relate to my plight even though we have the same skin tone.

Life isn't one-track.

Also wanted to say that it's not always about looks either. If you're intelligent, then your intellect will open doors for you. If you're charming then that will work to your ffavor whatever your endeavor. If you're tall then that's an asset. Some people hit it big in the genetic lottery, most people don't. Instead of complaining about shyt you can't change, focus on your aptitudes and go from there.

I'll offer you all one piece of advice. it's really, really easy to become a victim. You don't need to put in any effort to have a chip on your shoulder. & that shyt is not good. Stop complaining and actually do something with your life.
