Who is expecting all that from a western game

This is Red Dead not Saint's Row

you got people talking about how slow paced it is, "it's boring", taking care of horses and cleaning guns as tedious, etc.

seems some people expect this to be GTA wild west aka a cartoonish over the top action fest when it's clearly going a completely different direction.

i appropriate that it's grounded in realism and more about the atmosphere and interactions with NPC's and wildlife.

Watched some reviews. I'm not sure how I feel about all the unnecessary extra details. I hated BotW because of all the extra shyt like weapon breaking and eating for the different weathers. Seems like this game is full of the same stuff

Crazy this shyt is infesting consoles now. I looked at the comparison and I'm like I'm supposed to be gassed off grass and flowers. That's why a lot of these games are weighed down performance wise because every piece of fukking grass has to be rendered in 4k and sway individually. fukking grass physics.

The dumbest thing about all of this is that these same people who gassed are going to playing on a TV that is a 2015-16 model and they won't see the slight differences regardless

The little extra stuff is just where games are going these days. I mean technically you could point the finger at PC modders for this trend. The little details always added to the game experience but for a lot of people that's just not enough. They want "immeeeeeeeeeeeersive" everything down to the fukking horse balls. Those huge immersion mods you find for PC games are extremely popular and often times console players look on envious and say, "Why couldn't *developer/publisher* put this in the base game so I could have it too? " Well, now they are. Maybe if there's enough pushback they'll make it optional but this isn't a trend that's going away anytime soon. not for AAA open world games anyway. The precedent has been set and to walk it back would be a loss of face.

I actually preferred GTA4 over GTA5.

Me too, the story was way better in GTA 4. GTA V has better graphics and gameplay.
