RDR2 online could've had a crazy impact on online gaming similar to World of World craft.

The world is so robust they could've just added a pvp/pve element to it with a bunch of new missions like a season pass

I'll never understand the decison to just neglect the online portion from a financial stand point.

RDR2 online = The Lenny Cooke of gaming..so much potential, but it focuses was elsewhere :mjcry:

There’s only so much they could do with it considering it’s sets in the 1890’s.

I do agree that they gave up on it too quickly but financial wise,Rockstar probably realized that a western bounty hunting and outlaw online game will only appeal to a very niche crowd. :yeshrug:

I'll say it now the same way I said it then, without fail. Everytime. Rockstar punished the RDR2 Online community because they didn't fall into the same pratfall that the GTA online Community did, in terms of buying digital currency (Shark cards), which is what made GTA online the Juggernaut that it is today, ultimately leading to Rockstar as a developer, cashing out on being the actual Rockstars that they were in terms of making awesome games and trying new shyt.
The reason Rockstar hasn't released ANY new game (RDR2 In terms of story was already finished before GTA online became such a lucrative money maker) is because they realized that people are willing to buy sharkcards (Digital currency) if given the incentive, which in this case, is the ability to roll with the sweats and griefers off the culture they've created within these games. I'm not going to go indepth about the shifting landscape in GTA online and how the more expensive armorments and vehicles (The flying bike being the most notable) were tied to high prices that a solid sect of people couldn't get without frustration, since on your way to making money, you'd have a beacon on your back, actively encouraging players to blow your shyt up and make you lose all your product. So if you've a whole culture of people blowing up the only chance you have to make money and buy said product, a sharkcard for 2-5 million (15-30 actual bucks, I dunno? I've 300 Million and NEVER bought them shyts.) don't look too bad at all, does it? That's the culture of GTA online.

They tried to port it over to RDR2 after they realized they gave us TOO much opportunity to do what I call "Slow burn earn" which is collect gold and do Trader Wagons. They started pimping Goldbars in the same way as GTA online, but why pay to get what you can earn through your love of the game and it's beautiful landscape? People played so much, explored so much, did the treasure map shyts and best yet, used the once brolic daily event shyt, in which your gold earning multiplayer stayed at a high percentage, if you did the daily challenge every day (I had a streak going for almost a year and earned BANK), that we shunned the Goldbars. shyt was NOT necessary.
So seeing as to how the community wasn't copping, they withheld all the basic things one SHOULD have had in this version of RED Dead redemption that wasn't possible in the first one's Online community. No bank robbing, no pan handling, no cattle rustling, no train robbing. Can't rob a salon or a store owner. Can't run or own a pub/brothel. You've a whole moonshine bar and can't make money off it. So many Cowboy activities in a game and engine that CAN handle it, and they do what? They scuttle it to 'focus' on keeping GTA online going, and then they started to nerf shyt in RDR online claiming that "They've not the resources to deal with both" but any day 1 RDR online player knows Rockstar got salty 'cause they were expecting to double their revenue stream by having not one but TWO online communities, ruining each other's shyt and creating an arm's race using digital currency for the fanbase to keep up like they do in GTA online.

fukk that.
And fukk them.
Rockstar wanted to create another online community in which digital currency looked enticing in order for the player to hang with the sweats and cheaters, in RDR online, like they did in GTA online. That's why they've stopped doing anything other than fuel the machine that is GTA online because people buy shark cards to hang within the culture they created of constantly having your money making opportunities limited/ruined by the game and players.
