Rockstar is greedy as fukk for this but they are definitely not stupid. Both Rockstar and Take Two know there won’t be any long term repercussions because all they got to do is announce GTA VI within a month or two and everyone will forgive them and buy this half ass port as a show of their “gratitude“. 
It is honestly a huge insult to long term fans of the series because Rockstar is doing the absolute bare minimum and banking on peoples nostalgia for a quick money grab.

You can already play RDR in 4k, so that’s not a selling point in the slightest for this old ass (albeit great) game.
