This is the kind of pizza Chicago folks really eat
en.wikipedia.org
Yep, tavern style thin crust is the true Chicago pizza. We'd only get deep dish once in a blue moon or if someone was visiting from out of town.
I don't even eat tavern. i eat neopolitan.
not too long ago, chicago had the #1 pizza spot in the country - great lake pizza.
was like a three month reservation to even get in the spot.
the point is, chicago does multiple styles of pizza and excels at all of them. can find any style of pizza here and most likely that style will have a chicago restaurant that is featured in some top pizza ranking.
