I still don't understand how you DON'T steal signs in baseball. I mean the catcher's signals are aired for everyone to see. Maybe I don't understand baseball enough

There's usually a different system for signs with runners on.

1 might be a curve now, 2 will be the fastball
3rd sign is the actual sign
Behind in the count, it's always the 1st sign
Etc.

Stealing basic signs is easy, relaying them to teammates without getting caught takes a little more work. And if the catcher sees a runner on second doing subtle things to try to tip pitch location or type, calling for a fastball to the ribs is the usual unwritten rule.

But with technology, you could easily get around all that. That's why these cases need to be handled very strictly.
