Well a 'clash' is jamaican slang for an mc battle...

A soundclash is just a music battle to see whose got the best 'sound'

You set up your soundsystem. I set up mine. We go back and forth using our best, most obscure, unique, illest secret music up our sleeves (which is why wiz did his homework and had so many one off dubs of songs for example) and then the crowd decides whose the best based on who played the best music/had the tuffest sound

The UK has absorbed so much of the carribean culture over the decades and our underground music is so intertwined with the jamaican ethos and ideology (clashes, soundclashes, soundsystem culture, dubplate culture, mc'in/toasting) that this is just a normal thing to us and how we do things, the same way it is to jamaicans

None off them are actually sounds, that's why they call it "culture clash". Used to be real sound systems in this, but they quickly went away from that format, trying to appeal to the casual.
