A lot of people on that site were already pissed because one of the new members in charge of reddit is this Asian lady who is trying to make it a less hateful place. In the process she took down plenty of the derogatory subreddit's used to slander demographics of people.

I say reddit is moving forward, the only outrage is from the bigots mainly even if they're ignorant of their prejudice.

For more perspective, according to the comments alot of the facts haven't been released. So this version of what happened may still be speculation
