Reddit now has as many users as Twitter, with far more engagement per user.

Hard to believe really. The few times I’ve looked for DIY/informational type threads it was a dumb layout where bunches of comments were out of order, and you had to click each comment to see responses or you’d miss em. Dunno if they changed, stopped going there even for streams once I found a much better platform 5-6 years ago
What platform?

To avoid dealing with dumb people on reddit I customize my homepage with more uplifting and informative subreddits. I keep my exposure to topics of my interests and positive communities.

Don't let the idiots on that site discourage you from improving yourself.

Plenty of subreddits can assist you in your pursuits and believe it or not there are some genuine kindhearted people on there.

Reddit is basically mainstream 4-Chyan :manny:
Interesting how 10 years ago internet culture was only for "weirdos" now its a part of everyday life and speech.

The fact that Reddit allows anyone to carve out a niche to create a digital watering hole around one topic is the key to its power as it already has a chunk of traffic therefore its easy to get something popping as its a sort of forum of forums and as with any good business the key to success is being a good middleman and that is pretty much the whole Reddit model.

You can tell that it works because people willingly put up with a horrendous UI, totally outdated design and all the rest of the crap that comes with it.

What I wonder is why no one has came along and fixed the issues and smacked the kufi off its head by implementing a profit share/ad revenue model into it because that would be enough to pull a lot of content creators across and then the browsers would have to follow...

Reddit as a brand and platform is so entrenched in people’s psyches...Think your hypothetical would be enough to catalyze a mass exodus from Reddit? Or would it be more of a slow burn, occurring over a course of several years? :patrice:
