i got a dare is a darkside cd autographed from him....whut the album was the first rap album i listened to fully on a walk man....
so whut thee album is personal to me..cause it some of my earliest memories..

I think its more about his friend rocafella dying and other deaths was happening around that time. Plus this was around the time i think EMPD split

Dare iz a darkside is one of my favorite albums ever , the production is crazy and Redman himself did most of it ..it always bugs me out to hear him diss the album

Easily one of my favorite albums of all-time.

I get that he went through some traumatic sh*t while working on it, but every time he disses the album, I'm always like..

EPMD broke up when he was doing the first album.

But he said he was doing a lot of drugs during DIAD and was depressed and going through a lot of personal sh*t and just poured everything into the music. What's wild, is that him doing that, resulted in a damn masterpiece that he doesn't even like.

Reminds me of Mary J making her best music when she going thru her struggles (My Life), or Nas when his back was against the wall (Stillmatic), or Pac when he was facing prison time and media chaos (MATW).

Some artists make their best music when having personal strife.
