If I remember correctly, I think the Ill At Will Vol 1 mixtape came out in 04’. There were a couple of other songs in there that were ok but for the most part my biggest gripe with it is that it was just snippets
To think, that mixtape was three years after Malpractice
But what I also remember is before he announced Red Gone Wild, there was promotional stickers for an album called ReVended or something, I can’t remember the exact title of the album, but that was the title of his album before Red Gone Wild

That sounds about right. I copped this tape from the tables on 125th for $3, lol.
I didn't really like anything else on it though. I can't even remember much about the promotion of Red Gone Wild other than it seemed like Def Jam just didn't care about Red anymore. I don’t even know if I knew when it was dropping. Just seemed like they just threw the album in stores and didn't say sh*t. That was the last Redman album I copped and didn't just download.

Wow, lol. I downloaded it off a blog back then and the copy I had, the quality was really poor.
Yeah the only other 2 tracks that stood out was Search 4 Barney (he rhymes over LL’s Mr Goodbar beat and Brick Intentions where he spits over Dr. Dre’s Bad Intentions beat
Yeah they did. The album wasn’t really promoted at all and Red just quietly dropped videos for singles.
I remember sometime after the album dropped, he was vocal about how Def Jam won’t moving right and had dropped the ball
He had even said he’d leave Def Jam for Shady Records at that time

Craziness.
He was one of the acts that Russell and Lyor credited with keeping the lights on at the label. Only for the label to turn its back on him and other legends like GFK, after the regime changed there. He said he couldn't even get into the office anymore, without them asking him to sign at the desk and get a "visitor" pass.
Def Jam definitely owed Red much better.

I remember that 2005 or 2006 when Def Jam had a slew of veterans dropping album with zero promotion (Ghost was one of them)
Only in Hip Hop do legends who helped make something great and add to a label’s legacy get treated like shyt after a decade and some change in the game

What happened up at Def Jam is one of Hip Hop's biggest failures.
It's a disgrace today. Bunch hipsters up there now who don’t even know who the legends are.

Every now and then, a video will pop up and it'll be some random artist that has "Def Jam Records" as their label, but artists I never heard of before. But I think Justin Bieber is on Def Jam, lol.
Jadakiss said recently that he "thinks" he's still on Def Jam, but isn't sure. HAHA!!
