Robert Griffin III went from hero to zero in 32 months in D.C. | The MMQB with Peter King

Robert Griffin III has a contract too onerous ($16 million in salary in 2016) for a team to take a chance on trading for him. If Washington releases him—and the team has been mum on its plans, other than to say he remains a member of the team—let’s take a look at the most likely franchises that could be interested in signing him.

Seattle would be number one. GM John Schneider and coach Pete Carroll are always looking for an edge, and they won’t care about ruffling feathers with backup Tavaris Jackson. Griffin could learn a new offense with little pressure, seeing that Russell Wilson has never missed a start in 54 games since being drafted 73 spots after Griffin in 2012.

Arizona would be number two. Bruce Arians likes Drew Stanton, I sense, but would be open to adding a third quarterback who might have to play and win games for a playoff contender, given Carson Palmer’s penchant for missing games. Palmer is 35 now, and the Cards could use one more insurance policy. Plus, Griffin has the kind of deep arm Arians would love.

Buffalo’s an interesting option. I get the feeling Rex Ryan didn’t like any of his quarterback options three months ago, and now, even though he has named Tyrod Taylor his starter, he might not be afraid of adding a big name to his quiver of quarterbacks.

Carolina is an interesting place, because there are built-in running chances for the quarterback in coordinator Mike Shula’s offense. Because Derek Anderson is a solid backup, this would only be a plan if the Panthers would be willing to sit Griffin for a year and have him learn behind Cam Newton and Anderson.

The New York Jets are a franchise always in search of a franchise quarterback. Wouldn’t you trade Geno Smith’s roster spot for Griffin?

Finally, I recall Mike McCarthy of the Packers wishing he could have taken some time to teach the art of quarterbacking to Vince Young, but the timing a couple of years ago just wasn’t right. I wonder if McCarthy and GM Ted Thompson would take Griffin over Brett Hundley?

Griffin is 25 years old. It’s crazy to think he’s not going to have the chance for a good second act in the NFL, just three years removed from being the offensive rookie of the year. Assuming, of course, Washington does the right thing and cuts him loose.

Does any black QB get to go out gracefully?

What drives me crazy is these young white QB's who struggle never get their name dragged through the mud when they struggle. Russ won a chip and as soon as the team struggled all these stories came out about him not being black enough or getting along with teammates. Cam has been through it with the fake smile, the Superman celebration. Kaep with the tattoos. Geno has had several stories before the punch. The media is ready to run them outta town quick and turn to an unaccomplished white qb. And once a black QB leaves his initial team "he might be done." Meanwhile bums like David Carr, Grossman, McCown, etc can get jobs :mjpls:

Matt Ryan has failed to win these last few years but I didn't see a single ESPN segment questioning whether he should keep his job:mjpls:

I really want to stick to the NBA at this point.

Agreed with everything you said. And too often with black.QBs it is hey go out there make plays like super kneegrow. I know our OL sucks, we ain't got you no weapons and the OC calling shyt plays that may get you killed. But go out there and be super man.

Then when the black QB gets hurt such as a busted knee. The thought process is well we got to ship your black ass out of here since you can't be super knee grow. fukk getting you help, or an OL or a better OC.

shyt is the same every time whether you are Cunningham, McNabb, McNair or RG3. They run these black QBs into the ground with little help and as soon as they can't be super man any longer the fans, media and owners want their asses shipped out of town.

Crazy cause if Elway was a brotha he would have gotten dumped as soon as his body started to break down (so he would have never benefitted from playing with Davis)....:francis:

Surely Gruden has to go down as one of the worst head coach hires ever? This guy has been incompetent from the start, is not media savvy at all and even looks like a dumbass.

If you notice certain coaches/teams are very black QB friendly. Andy Reid, Pete Carroll, Rex, Minny, Pittsburgh, etc stay with brothers on their roster. Jeff Fisher didn't want to draft Young. Shanahan did McNabb dirty and didn't want to draft RG3. These young guys need to make sure they end up on teams/staffs who are willing to work with them fairly. If they have a :mjpls: history they aren't likely to to support you long term. Ryan Clark was on First Take and said he observed one on one conversations between RG3 and Gruden and in his words Gruden didn't "talk to him like a man." Certain coaches want their "kind of guy" which is why you see bums like David Carr have long careers holding a clipboard.

He needs to go to Kansas City. Reid will get his game right and he has a shot to take Alex Smith's spot. I'd love to have him in NY on the Jets for the black coach and QB combo. The Jets have the weapons.

Brotha we on the same page. I have been saying for years these kats need to try if they are free agents to get with coaches who give black QBs opportunities. Also like you said certain teams like the Eagles have a history of giving black QBs an opportunity.

Also i agree with you on KC and Reid. I said last year if RG3 was cut he needed to go to KC because RG3 needs to play in a west coast offense and Reid has a history with black QBs and giving them chances.

As much as Andy Reid used to piss me off as a coach I'll always respect the way he looked out for black QB's. He gave Vick a shot to get back in the league and signed Vince. He rode with McNabb for years even when the fans wanted him gone.

You see how Tomlin reached out to Vick?

Guys need to smarten up. Play for black coaches or guys who support you. Work with black agents etc.
