Obviously the triangle isn't for everyone and without the right personnel a team wont look good running it. But I am not about to blame the triangle for the Knicks being as trash as they are this season.

Can anyone name a great offense that did not have great players? Of course the players make the offense. So calling out the offense is silly when we all know it doesn't matter either way if you don't have the players.
in college, Princeton's system :jbhmm:

Depends on how you define great, I guess.

Would you say the Sacramento Kings have a great offense?
They're currently 3rd in the NBA in points per game (106.9)

Question is, do you consider the Kings to have great players?

They play at the fastest pace in the league. Their offense is ranked 13th...certainly wouldn't call that great.

“Without Kobe, and Shaq and Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, the triangle is just a circle.”

Alright.

So in that offensive rating metric,

Portland (34-31) ranks 6th in offensive rating. Are they a great offensive team with great players? It's seemingly CJ McCollum, Damian Lillard, and role players.

Well for starters, I was referencing all time great offenses that contribute to championships or contenders and get talked about years after the fact and have other teams copying them. If you take Lillard (who is great) and McCollum (who just might become that) away are they still ranked 6th? Absolutely not. You gotta have the horses.

How would you define all time great offense?

That's a pretty arbitrary way to define great.

Notable accomplishment and influence ain't enough? :heh:

You are more than welcome to define it how you see fit, but you asked me about it.

Tri State Area
The triangle needs an initiator that can handle the ball from the 2 through 4, the Knicks don't have that.

Scottie was that for the Bulls
Odom was that for the Lakers
Kobe was that for the Lakers
Draymond/Iguodala is that for the Warriors

Phil's system is rigid and wont work without the right personnel.
Toni Kukoc too
